About

Hello and welcome 🙏🏻

I’m Radhika, creator and founder of My Home Mantra. I started this blog in April 2011 as a passion project to document my mom’s recipes and my kitchen experiments as I moved to US and was trying to learn cooking on my own.

I grew up eating very simple yet scrumptious and wholesome home made food cooked by my mom and my aajji (grand-mom). Food has always been a huge part of my health journey. I moved to USA in 2008 to pursue my Master’s in Computer Science. Since then, every time I entered my kitchen I always wondered how I could recreate my mom’s magic and mimic the traditional Marathi food and all my mom’s specialities. I found myself calling her for tips and recipes and that’s how this blog was started to document those every day recipes and my childhood favorites. For example, this Rava Cake, it’s such a humble recipe yet so satisfying and rich in flavor and has been the most visited recipe on this blog ever since. My love for cooking, healthy eating and preserving recipes passed on through generations inspired me to tell stories about the food I love. My list of favorites includes coffee with cardamom, anything with mango and everything my mom makes.

When not in my kitchen, you will find me either tinkering on my laptop or being outside with my family. Since 2010, I have been working full-time in Silicon valley in California and I absolutely love being part of corporate world. I am currently working as an Engineering Manager at Amazon Lab126 and I’m really proud of my team. We are building user experiences for an upcoming Alexa device. It’s nothing short of magic!

And when I am not working, I love to spend my time with my family and my 4 year old daughter. Out goal is to raise her as a strong, kind, independent girl who is connected to her Indian roots and culture. I strongly believe both language and food play an important role in keeping the cultural bond strong and hence we are making sure she knows our food, our faith and our language as well.

I am determined to pass down my love for Yoga, Ayurveda and Simple Living to my daughter. I feel blessed to have such a huge influence of Ayurvedic practices and regular Yoga practice in my life since my childhood.

I am a certified Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor from Kerala Ayurveda academy and also a certified Health coach and a certified Holistic Nutritionist.

I am excited to use this space to share my learnings and my mantra of Happy and Healthy Motherhood and Simple and Sustainable Lifestyle.
